Snow, snow SNOW!!

To welcome in the holiday season, Laura Treacy will read her picture book SIR GRACE AND THE BIG BLIZZARD at noon and 1pm at Christmas in the Village on Dec. 2, 2023, in Grantsville, Maryland. Afterward, children can create paper snowflakes and decorate paper swords to take home. This free event will be held at Grant’s Mercantile at 146 Casselman Road, Grantsville, Maryland, 21536. Copies of Sir Grace and the Big Blizzard will be for sale before, during, and after this event. They are also available from The Gallery Shop in downtown Oakland, Maryland. “When Grace puts on her silver coat and wields her magic sword she becomes ‘Sir Grace,’ but when a blizzard that ‘roars like a dragon’ swirls around her house, she is just plain ‘Grace’ . . . until she needs to be brave once again. Author and poet Laura Treacy Bentley conjures the storm that ‘smokes the air with blowing snow’ in this wonderful children’s picture book, while Kjersten Niskanen’s illustrations vividly convey a child’s view of this wintry experience that is both exciting and scary.” ~Anna Smucker, author of Golden Delicious: A Cinderella Apple Story

Laura Treacy Bentley was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, and her father and his family lived for generations in Oakland, Maryland. Laura is a poet, novelist, and picture book writer whose work has been widely published in the United States and Ireland. She was awarded a Fellowship Award in Children’s Literature from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
