The Garrett Arts Passport Program

What Is The Garrett Arts Passport?

Since 1976, the Garrett County Arts Council (GCAC) has been supporting the arts in our community.  From visual arts, music, and theatre to dance, literary arts and culinary arts, our county is rich with heritage and traditional arts and emerging contemporary arts.  The arts in Garrett County attract tourists to our area; foster consumer spending and generate tax revenues; support high quality education for our school children by raising academic achievement, foster positive work ethic, and improve attendance; build communities that will attract and retain an educated and creative workforce; enhance the quality of life in our community; and celebrate the rich diversity and history of our cultural achievements.

The Garrett Arts Passport is designed to help our community plan around their art, music, cuisine, history and cultural heritage, and develop tourism ecosystems that will ultimately help create job opportunities and increase personal community success – all while having fun exploring Garrett County.

The Garrett Arts Passport is a program by the Garrett County Arts Council.  Pick up a “Passport Booklet” full of different locations throughout Garrett County, collect stamps, and then present the full book to get an embroidered patch!

By attending various local arts & cultural events across the county throughout the year, you can collect artist designed stamps on each page of your booklet.

After September 1st, present your booklet at The Gallery Shop in the Oakland A&E District to receive an artist-designed easy iron-on commemorative patch!

This year’s patch was designed by local artist Emily Elmlinger of Oakland.  Every year, a new artist will be hired to create the patch, so you will want to collect them all!

Artist Designed Embroidered Patch

If you have collected stamps on multiple pages in your Passport Booklet by September 1st, bring your booklet to The Gallery Shop in Oakland.  Staff will present you with your iron-on embroidered patch for 2024-2025.

This year’s patch was designed by Lisa Robinson.
