$MART ART

What?

$MART Art is a new GCAC initiative. We will host a series of classes, events, and workshops accessible to anyone with an interested in visual arts, performing arts, literary arts and culinary arts.

How?

GCAC Artists will teach workshops that will be hosted by GCAC. You can view and sign up for upcoming classes right on this page.

Where?

The GCAC $MART ART spaces are located adjacent to the Gallery Shop. However, some classes may be given at other Garrett County locations and some may be virtual.

Upcoming Classes

“Pop-in” Ornament Making

Friday, November 25, from 2 pm to 4 pm and Saturday, November 26, from 2 pm to 4 pm in the $MART ART classroom.

Artist, Rachel Precht, will be holding a workshop to create ornaments from the ribbons that were part of the art installation honoring Pop Pop’s Path, a charity supporting  Alzheimer’s research. Rachel will be hosting the workshop on a “pop-in” basis. 

Suggested Donation: $13 members, $15 non-memebers

Kids’ Reading and Crafts

Saturday, December 3rd, from 12 pm to 2 pm in the $MART ART classroom.

GCAC will be holding a workshop to create  a  craft during the Soup and Santa event. 

Donations appreciated.

Cross Stitch

December 7th from 6 pm to 8 pm at the  $MART Art Classroom.

Artist, Beverly Barb, will show participants how to cross stitch, and you will create your very own stamped quilt square, which can be made into a pillow when completed. Class space is limited; sign up soon.

Light refreshments will be available.

Cost: $20 members, $25 non-members

Zentangle

Wednesday, December 14 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the $MART Art Classroom.

Artist, Tenisha Thomas will introduce participants to the art of Zentangle – a very easy and fun-to-learn abstract artform that uses structured patterns consisting of elementary strokes to create beautiful artwork. 

Light refreshments will be available.

Cost: $20 members, $25 non-members
