Projects of Garrett County Arts Council are funded by the Maryland State Arts Council, Garrett County Government, and by membership support.

Subscribe on a recurring annual or monthly basis to support arts programming and events in Garrett County.

Your annual membership contribution enables us to sustain and grow programs included (but not limited to):

Advocacy: Working toward continued funding for the arts at both the county and state level.  We take an active role with organizations such as Maryland Citizens for the Arts and events like the annual Arts Day presented to legislators in Annapolis.

Artist Studio Tours: Annual tour of county artists’ working home studios with participating guest artists.

Artists’ Third Thursday: Monthly networking social for artists and arts supporters of all ages.

Arts in Education Programming: Multi-cultural programs for Garrett County students, sponsorship of annual GCPS Student Arts Fair, Achievement in Art Awards for GCPS graduating seniors, periodic student visual art exhibits, sponsorship of school literary journals.

Arts Roundtable: Professional development education for grantees and artists.

 Community Art Development Grants: Funding for arts related programs and activities to local non-profits, educational entities, and government agencies.

Community Collaborations: Programs in partnership with other area organizations.  Examples include Art in the Park at Deep Creek Lake State Park, Victorian Chautauqua, Performing Arts Center at Garrett College, Garrett Lake Arts Festival, local Lions Clubs, and county-wide arts events.

Friend of the Arts Award: Annual recognition of residents showing ongoing exemplary support of the arts in Garrett County.

Ginseng and Page-to-Stage: Ginseng is our annual literary publication showcasing the work of local authors.  Page-to-Stage invites authors to read their original work to a live audience.

Oakland Writers and Literature Club (O.W.L.): A weekly community of writers who meet to discuss great literature and submit their own work for consideration.

The Gallery Shop and The Gallery Shop Too at Grant’s Mercantile: Retail storefront providing the venue for local visual artists to show and sell their creations.

$martArt Workshops and Demonstrations: Hands-on learning experiences for all ages, in varied mediums.

GCAC Smithsonian Summer Camps: Hybrid week-long summer camp sessions exploring a variety of Smithsonian Museum collections and topics such as natural sciences, history, and art.
