Let’s wrap the tree in Rowlesburg in beautiful colors again!
Yarn bombing is a type of street art that employs colorful displays of crocheted or knitted yarn rather than paint or chalk.
Yarn squares are beginning to come in for this Yarn Bombing!
In 2015, we wrapped the tree next to the front entrance of the Szilagyi Center in Rowlesburg with 9×9-inch squares of yarn. We took it off in 2016 because it began to look weathered, but there are requests to yarn bomb it again. Anyone who crochets or knits can participate in this project by making a 9×9-inch crocheted or knitted square, or two or three or four or more, of any design and any color. Approximately two hundred squares are needed to complete the project. Deadline to submit squares is May 1, and we will then pick a day in May to do the yarn bombing. For more information about the project, contact Janet Szilagyi at 304-290-9237 or jlsz@aol.com. Squares can also be taken to any Senior Center in Preston County. Once we get this project completed, we would love to yarn bomb a tree in another part of Preston County, so if you have an idea, let Janet know. Arts Preston encourages everyone who knits or crochets to be part of this art!
