Event Details

The Town of Oakland, MD announces the return of the Little Yough Summer Music Festival (LYSMF) summer concert series, which takes place at the Mountain Fresh Pavilion in the heart of the Oakland Arts & Entertainment District. This year marks the 26th year for the concert series. The LYSMF was started in 1996 by Ken Perrin as a showcase of area and regional singers, songwriters, and talent.

The family-friendly, free concerts are held at the Mountain Fresh Pavilion in the Oakland Town Parking Lot on select Friday evenings. Food vendors normally open at 6 p.m. and the performances begin at 7 p.m.

The Steve Smith Band features local singer/songwriter Steve Smith bringing his own brand of country, Americana, gospel and country rock. It all started when 12-year-old Steve, traded away his dirt bike to get his very first banjo that he learned to play while listening to the radio in his father’s car. A bit later, a chance meeting at a business in Nashville led to Steve jamming with country music legend Charlie Daniels.

Since those days, Steve Smith has gone on to open for Darryl Worley, Lee Brice, David Nail, David Allen Coe, Jo Dee Messina and the Oak Ridge Boys just to name a few. His song “Wishing Well” spent three weeks at #1 on the indie charts while another original charted #12 in Australia in 2012, and to think it all started during a square dance at a building owned by Smith’s grandfather.
